additive inverse and negative for addition operation and multiplicative inverse and reciprocal for multiplication

I once had a textbook that had a picture. It started with a really large print "The Opposite Of". All the way down the page it repeated the same phrase - getting smaller nad smaller and smaller. The very last one was so small it could not be read. It was just a minus sign. This was the point. When used for subtraction, 8 - 4, it means that operation. "The opposite of" is a unary operation. This means it operates on only one value at a time. The opposite of 3 is -3 The additive inverse of 3 is -3 I'm torn between those two. I'm not sure they are different at all.
