Radius: AC Tangent: EA Chord: DA Center: C Diameter: AB Secant: DA

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh the chord and secant are/can be the same?t.... so what exactly is the difference between a chord and secant?

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

A chord should have its endpoints on the circle. Whereas a secant is a line (not a line segment, thats what a chord is) cutting circle at any 2 points.

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

So AD isnt a chord, most probably. Its a secant. AB is a chord.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea i thought ab was a chord and a diameter originally.... guess i should always go with my first instinct.

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

Yeah.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx for the explantion

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):
