Help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(4x + 10)/2 - 4 = 24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@andriod09

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry that was the wrong equation. (4x + 10)/2 – 4 = 22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you trying to solve for x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i am

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we could start by removing the -4 on the left side by adding +4 on both sides and that gives you (4x+10) / 2 = 22 + 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now to remove the 2 on the bottom you can cross multiply or just multiply both sides by 2 and that gives you 4x + 10 = 52

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, so then i would subtract 10 from both sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so hen 4x = 42 divide both sides by 4 and I get 10.5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that's correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x/3 - 16 = 6 can you help me with this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@JAMG

OpenStudy (anonymous):

always start by moving the ones that are by themselves so lets add +16 to both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is what I have so far: 6x/3 - 16 = 6 add 16 to both sides 6x/3 = 22 what do i do from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok that's correct you have to options you can cross multiply the 3 or you can divide the 6 by 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you cross multiply you get 6x = 66 divide by 3 you get 2x = 22 both get you the same answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x = 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me with one more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A weather satellite is carrying meteorological equipment to chart hurricane activity over the course of a year. The equipment weighs 4,800 newtons (N) on the ground. If the weight of a mass at 19,778 km from Earth’s center is only 10% of the weight of the mass on Earth, how much will the weather equipment weigh when the satellite is in space, 19,788 km from Earth’s center? Calculate your answer: i'm doing all of this for earth science unfortunately:/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since you have the equipment at 19778 km from earth center then the weight its only 10% , so what is 10% of 4800 Newtons

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4800/10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can do an equation also so 100 % = 4800 10% = ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

480?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay cool! thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np always happy to help
