John’s father is the head manager of a company that produces a best selling product. During the most recent computer upgrade, a new production inequality, |-2x - 4| < 12, was added to speed up production. The variable x in the inequality represents the amount of raw material (in kilograms) to make the product. 1) Solve the inequality. Show ALL work 2)If x represents positive amounts in kilograms, what is the solution set? 3)According to John’s father, only positive integer solutions to the equation can be used and accepted. How does this change the answer to question number 2? expl
Someone please help me out, I'm stuck and I really just need someone to help solve this.
The vertical pipes mean absolute value, which just means the positive value (positive #s stay positive, negative #s become positive) Absolute value does some weird stuff with inequalities. For example: |x| > 10 means that x < -10 OR x > 10 |x| < 10 means that x > -10 AND x < 10 (-10 < x < 10). This problem uses the second of these, so the new equation becomes: -12 < -2x -4 < 12 Think you can solve that to start with?
Alright. Thank you for the tip can you give me a moment and I'll try? I really am stuck I've been looking at tips for the past hour or so and even the solutions that I've found seem to not be very helpful in explaining the problem.
