Which of the following was not a common argument given in support of the American colonists' declaration of independence? Parliament did not have the right to impose taxes on the colonists. The British government had become tyrannical. It was ridiculous for an island to govern a continent. Britain had plenty of other colonies all over the world. I believe it is either of the last two.
