f(2) means substitute x = 2 into the equation f(x) = x 2 + 1 g(1) means substitute x = 1 into g(x) = 3x + 1 and evaluate both. then subtract your answers f(2) - g(1) and lastly lit looks like you need to square the the answer above to the final part
