How do variables help you in real-world situations?

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

I can come up with a infinite number of real life example but you are doing fine on your own you are using algebra anytime you want to find any unknown or relationship of something to something else and it is one of the oldest forms of mathematics and in branches into every other type of mathematics Like geometry, Trigonometry, and calculus..etc the real world applications are for finding the volume mass speed position area size weight length amount time angles or Anytime you have an unknown (variable), you are using algebra. It's everywhere.... And you are right it everywhere as math is

For example, we can look to economics. We have limited resources and two products. You have the cost of manufacture of each product (Land, Labour, Capital, etc.) Lets say you are manufacturing two vehicles, a car(x) and a truck(y). The car costs $10,000 to make and the truck costs $15,000 to make. \(10,000x+15,000y\le 300,000\) This is your PPF, or your Production Possibility Frontier.
