Determine the type of boundary line and shading for the graph of the inequality -2x - y greater than or equal to -8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here's the inequality: \[-2x -y>= - 8 \] add 2x on both sides to get \[-y >=-8+2x \] divide by a -1. NOTE: when multiplying or dividing by a negative the inequality changes direction. You will get the following: \[y<=8-2x \] based on the final inequality, you will note that you will have to use a solid line because of the condition: less than OR equal to...meaning it satisfies both conditions.
