why was the alliance between the French and the American so important to the colonists winning the revolutionary war?
The French provided resources and naval power that was critical. America really won the revolution by England really quitting because of all the resurces being spent. An example of the French playing a crucial role was the last battle of the American Revolution: Yorktown. The British Navy was unable to reenforce British General Conwallis' troops (I am not sure if I spelled that name right), and his troops became trapped.
