which of the following may constitute a population check all that apply. A. All rats in New York B. All skyscrapers in Chicago C. All nurses in a hospital D. All brown haired people in Oslo

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Is this Biology?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No its in my math section...

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Well a population has living members, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, so does that mean all but B are correct, since those particular answers have living creatures?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm getting all of the above....I don't think populations have to necessarily be alive in terms of stats/studies...researching

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Do you have the definition of "population"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no sir, the section is called samples and population, talking about how you take a sample of a group and from there estimate how many of whatever is the over all amount in the population........... if that makes any sense its like propability and stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not finding a real good website...free dictionary and then some not really dodgy ones but nobody with a resume (google advanced search used to be easier to find but anyway) for stats you can study things like rocks or buildings or people so "population" just means the things you are counting: here is the one from freedictionary A population is any entire collection of people, animals, plants or things from which we may collect data. It is the entire group we are interested in, which we wish to describe or draw conclusions about.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, well I'll try and see what happens... Thanks guys

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Thanks for trying to learn math.

yep
