Give me an example of a unit rate used in a real-world problem sitatution?

OpenStudy (candy13106):

plz help anyone plz

OpenStudy (candy13106):

plz help plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

miles per hour students per classroom dollars per candy bar

OpenStudy (candy13106):

um i really dont understand that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I had to look it up too - the formal definition isn't really clear but here it is: A unit rate describes how many units of the first type of quantity corresponds to one unit of the second type of quantity. so basically you want to make sure that your unit is singular. so you could describe driving down the road as "I was going fast - I was going 20 miles per 60 minutes" but while that is a rate it isn't a unit rate for it to qualify as a unit rate the second item needs to be singular: I was going 20 mile per hour...... rate = 20 miles unit = hour any better?

OpenStudy (candy13106):

ok brb

OpenStudy (candy13106):

ok bac

OpenStudy (candy13106):

i dont understand that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's throwing you off?

OpenStudy (candy13106):

make it shoter plz

OpenStudy (candy13106):

u here me

OpenStudy (candy13106):

hello u there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

phone

OpenStudy (candy13106):

wat phone

OpenStudy (candy13106):

u there

OpenStudy (candy13106):

ok he just realing confused me now there fore i am lost

OpenStudy (candy13106):

trying to pick bac up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so do you have to create a word problem? or do you just need units of measurement?

OpenStudy (candy13106):

create a wrold problem yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so what you could do is use MPH or MPG i'm sure you've heard of these before you could also use a unit of measurement in time like feet per second or something similar got me?

OpenStudy (candy13106):

i did not hear MPH or MPG i dont even have no idea wat ur talking bout

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you must use KPH right?

OpenStudy (candy13106):

well the first reason y didnt cause my math teacher never explains us how do our work so i try t o ask her for some help but for some reason its beacuse i think that she does not know wat the answer is

OpenStudy (candy13106):

and its the end of class and leave with our brains empty thats y i go on hear aint that pretty folish

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i use this pretty religously too don't worry the people on here know tons more than most teachers lol but anyways we will just stick to FPS which is feet per second this is used to explain how fast a projectile can travel

OpenStudy (candy13106):

oh kool very nice for me to learn something that my dumb teacher didnt even teach

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well this something you would learn in like physical science or something like that. but anyways what are the basis you're supposed to follow for the problem?

OpenStudy (candy13106):

um well give an example of a unite rate used in a real-world prblem thats all iknnow

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok and make a word problem from it ok so give me two names

OpenStudy (candy13106):

like candy u mean or crakerss

OpenStudy (candy13106):

im not quiet sure

OpenStudy (candy13106):

plz hurry plz

OpenStudy (candy13106):

im bout to fall asleep man plz hurry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no like people cause we are using FPS-feet per second (not to be confused with frames per second)

OpenStudy (candy13106):

ok and than wat

OpenStudy (candy13106):

ok i got to go srry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Rate of change is how one variable changes with respect to another The unit rate is the ratio of dimensions, units example I walk 1 mile in 20 minutes : this in rate of change unit rate is miles/minute can be converted to miles/hour, miles/second, feet/minute ect

OpenStudy (candy13106):

i just understamd
