Which set of numbers is the most reasonable to describe a person’s hat size? A: Integers B: Whole numbers C: Irrational numbers D: Rational numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you do that ?? Can you know a hat size ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@IXRAWRXI: please answer !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B.whole numbers

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

i dont thinks so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We have tow chose D or C . because C have A & B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@giligails : You re fall friend !:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

reason: we generally measure clothing and other things by grading it into certain groups and numbering those groups as in case of baby clothing as zero sized or so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

generally we wont go into precise measurements with inches or centimeters but go on with the range 42,34 etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I m sure its C ! @giligails : can you know a hat size of each person ?!!!

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

my hat size is \[7+\frac{5}{8}\] this is rational

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

inches right?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

we can construct lengths of irrational numbers in a physical sense, but no one would make a sqrt(2) size hat.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

is it a diameter?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

nah, I have no idea what it means. but my head is more than 8 inches

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

yeah must be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It s your hat not another !

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

so?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

find me a hat that has size pi then ill go with c:)

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

this is not a trick question, hat sizes are discrete...

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

I guess it depends on where you live as well, I bet some places have a different way of measuring\labeling hat sizes

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

but rational covers all bases, because it is for sure not irrational...
