Find F^-1(3) F(x)=x^5+x^3+x need help understanding the process to find the answer

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

F(x) = 3 => x = F^-1(3)

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you just need to figure out, wat value of x gives u 3 in F(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right so if i put \[x ^{5}+x ^{3}+x=3\] and then simplify it just becomes a mess with out graphing im not sure how to find the answer

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

by inspection x=1 works

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

analytically solving is tricky

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so just randomly plugging a number in that seems to work would be the way to go?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

yeah its a degree 5, so humanly impossible. we need to try these by inspection/graphing mostly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

np :)
