In the following lines from "Two Bodies," what does the desert most likely symbolize?
"Two bodies face to face are at times two stones and night is a desert."

loneliness
love
immensity

I think the whole poem is about love, so I'm leaning towards loneliness or immensity. It would be great if someone could help me with an explanation.
