let's try 80: place your first post in one corner (1) then 19 more post not counting the next corner post  for a total of 20.  Then place the next corner post and 19 more...wait a minute that makes 21 posts on each side...because each corner post gets counted twice...that points to the answer of 76.  Tricksey.
