ive got only a few mins left.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

can you solve the 1st equation for "y"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no can you just explain please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jdoe0001

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Y=16-4x now sub that in for y in first equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me? i dont really know how to do this.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

ohh, sorry I was ... a bit away for a bit yes, you solve for "a variable" in one equation, and substitute on the 2nd :) if you were to solve the 1st one for say "y", what would it look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u show me how to just solve it...

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

well, you can check on how to simplify equations at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIDTlgvo0DM

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

y = 16-4x Substituting this into 2nd equation: 2x + 3(16-4x) = -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok [:

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

2x +48 -12x = -2 2x -12x = -50 -10x = -50 x = 5 Now can you solve for y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i need to move on to another question my time is runnning out THANKS!

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

u r welcome
