There are two different formulas for midpoint. Is it possible to use the formula for midpoint "on a number line" when you are trying to find the midpoint of two points on a coordinate plane? Explain why or why not.

wat formula do you use to find midpoint between 1 and 3 ?
In case of number line, we are talking about one dimension only..(so the midpoint between two points on the number line just lies midway).while in case of co-ordinate plane, we have 2D or even 3D...so the formula is slightly different: e.g. for two points (x,y), (a,b) on co-ordinate plane...the midpoint will be [ (x+z)/2 , (y+b)/2 ].
