Question

I took a quiz and I got the following question wrong:

"Five friends agree to save money for a graduation road trip. They decide that each of them will put $0.25 in the fund on the first day of May, $0.50 on the second day, $0.75 on the third day, and so on. At the end of May, there will be $_____ in their fund. (Hint: There are 31 days in May.)"

My answer was 124, but according to the quiz, the correct answer is 372. Can someone please explain how 372 is the answer?

That's why I'm confused about the answer. The question said 5 friends. I tried multiplying 124 by 5, but that's not the answer either. I'm kind of hoping the quiz is wrong...

yup...its wrong...124 is just for one of the guys...5 would make it 720

@Jaseem18, yeah 3 friends would make sense, but the question said 5. Maybe it was a typo. I'm going to ask my teacher, though. :P @amriju I'll probably get a response on Monday.
