all living organisms share the same type of "coding" material, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). The sequence of nucleotides on the strands is specific and will produce [through some of cellular processes (transcription, translation)] a protein according to the sequence. What abb0t posted above is the "codon" chart, each 3 nucleotide sequence "codes" for a given amino acid.
