OpenStudy (anonymous):

Organize the following polynomial expressions from least to greatest based on their degree: I. x + 2xyz II. 3x + y + z III. 2x^3y + y^2x - 3x + 4 IV. 9x^3yz A. II, III, I, IV B. III, I, IV, II C. I, II, IV, III D. II, I, III, IV

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Do you know how to determine the degree of these expression?

OpenStudy (debbieg):

find the degree of each term (sum of the degrees of each variable in the term), and the degree of the expression is the largest degree of any term.

OpenStudy (debbieg):

so, e.g., x + 2xyz has a degree=1 term (x) and a degree = 3 term (2xyz), so the degree of the expression is 3. Now do that for all of them, and it should be easy to put them in order by degree. :)
