OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its S6830 samsung smart

OpenStudy (anonymous):

will you please help me if how can i install an apps for it is it .jar

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@roselynECE You should be able to open Google Play or Android Market, and type in pdf in the search box and it should come up with a range of apps comapitable with your phone. Then, it should tell you in the description area how to use it. Then, press the 'Install' button. \(\color{magenta}{Chanceamillion}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@roselynECE Your welcome. Best Responce? \(\color{green}{Chance}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@~Chance~ is this an android one model i really dont know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@roselynECE No it looks like it is an older model. \(\color{red}{Chance}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how could i find that fits in here i mean compatible on this unit. i dont have any wifi or WLAN hardware in my phone so im using my laptop.how can i intall the apps via laptop into the cellphone?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@roselynECE Follow the instructions. You must have wifi on your phone to do this. 1. Go to https://play.google.com/store and make an account. 2. Sync the Google Account to your phone. 3. Go back to https://play.google.com/store and find an app to read a pdf. 4. Send it to your phone from the website. 5. Accept the download to your phone. 6. Viola! \(\color{purple}{Chance}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i only connect my phone to laptop through usb connector

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't believe it is possible to download a app threw that connection. If it is possible, you will have to complete and implement the package file, which will be complicated and I don't know how to do that. I can see if anyone else on OS can help too. \(\color{magenta}{Chance}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@uri @Preetha @torobi @thomaster @LifeIsADangerousGame @Luigi0210 @mary.rojas @marissababe @bI-monroe Can any of you help with this issue? \(\color{purple}{Chance}\)

OpenStudy (lifeisadangerousgame):

I'm sorry, I'm no good with Computers :/ The best I could do is say google it ><

thomaster (thomaster):

If it's android, you can install apps with the android market app, or by just downloading .apk files from the internet.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@thomaster @roselynECE Try these steps. Settings > Wireless and Networks > WiFi Settings > Turn On WiFi Look and see if your home network is listed. \(\color{red}{Chance}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@thomaster I don't believe she would be able to complete the apk download. \(\color{magenta}{Chance}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@~Chance~ i dont have home network

thomaster (thomaster):

Well I have android and I can just download any .apk file and install it on my phone. That should be posible on every android device (except if the application is not compatible with your device). But are you sure ths s6830 is an android device? What's the commercial name? some kinda galaxy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@roselynECE How do you access the internet? @thomaster It is a Samsung. \(\color{magenta}{Chance}\)

thomaster (thomaster):

@~Chance~ yea I know it's a samsung, that doesn't say the operating system is android?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its galaxy smart S6830

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how will i know if the OS is android sorry im not really good on this..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@roselynECE Not sure.

thomaster (thomaster):

go to settings, scroll down to info. click that and then software information. It should give you the android version

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@~Chance~ im using laptop right now for access in internet and i did'nt even try using the S6830 in connecting in internet. @thomaster wait a second i scroll it down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@thomaster theres no info here

thomaster (thomaster):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (uri):

thomaster (thomaster):

market doesn't exist anymore, it's called google play

thomaster (thomaster):

but if there's no google play, then you have no android

OpenStudy (uri):

Wait does your phone has a wifi....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@uri im a student dont have money...sorry. I know there would always somebody who could help me.They are actually helping th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (uri):

Hmm..so no wifi..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont have WLAN hardware

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes no wife being installed

thomaster (thomaster):

Well if you don't have android, I guess you can't view pdf files on your phone. You would need a specialized app for that and manually install it with your computer, but I don't know any symbian pdf readers so can't help you sorry :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does SKY-MOBI version 405.009 means?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@thomaster Actually, you can have Android and not have Google Play. If the company that did the build removed it, which is common in some Chinese vendors, that will happen. As for Sky-Mobi: http://en.sky-mobi.com/aboutus.html And if you notice most of the aps you can get are Chinese, that would be a huge sign that it is by a Chinese vendor that has modified Android to the point where it can not work with the Android store.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@e.mccormick this was a clone samsung

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yes, so the company that made it put in a modified version of Android that only works with Chinese sources. That seriously restricts how you can get things onto it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how can i make use of this? i mean will you please help me? please

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

It is the type of thing they talk about here: http://thenextweb.com/asia/2012/09/15/google-android-bomb-china/ And you have to be very careful with the Chinese versions. Many have been documented as stealing private information off the phones. =/ As for how to use it, I can't help. I know how and why it is locked down. I can't help someone get around that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So your phone is a knockoff? \(\color{red}{Chance}\)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yep.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so that changes everything. It may not be compatiable with her phone at all, App makers don't take knockoffs into account. \(\

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what should i do?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

And many of them use proprietary distribution channels, so they eliminate standard aps. Only solution is if you can manually download and transfer an ap. But if it has no wifi, etc. I don't see how that will happen. Perhaps through USB.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait for an app to come out that would work with your phone. \(\color{red}{Chance}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(\color{purple}{Chance~has~signed~off.~If~you~need~help~PM~me!}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i connected my phone through usb port onto my computer. what are those that works with this thing here @e.mccormick please help its only an app a pdf viewer

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

If you can download and transfer an apk file, you should be able to install it. There are a number of projects that can be installed this way. Here is one: http://andpdf.sourceforge.net/

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Nice discussion on this here: http://www.the-digital-reader.com/2010/11/29/whats-the-best-free-pdf-app-for-android/ Someone else that was looking to do what you are.
