Solve the following system of equations graphically. y - 4 = 0 2x - y - 2 = 0 What is the solution set? {(-3, -4)} {(-3, 4)} {(3, 4)} what does this mean {()} around the problem ????

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Since the question is what is the solution set, the answers are sets. {} are the symbols for a set.

i also need help solving i think let me try

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Have you tried graphing both equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so itd have to be C ???

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

First we solve both equations for y. y - 4 = 0 ----------> y = 4 2x - y - 2 = 0 ----------> y = 2x - 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just so you know i didnt guess i worked it out

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

y = 4 is a horizontal line that goes through y = 4. To graph y = 2x - 2, we find two points and use them to graph the equation.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

y = 2x - 2 x | y --------- 0 | -2 2 | 2
