OpenStudy (katherinesmith):

What is the equation of the following graph?

OpenStudy (katherinesmith):

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

just by looking at it, u can say that its a sin/cos graph next, to write the equation, u need to figure out its period and amplitude

OpenStudy (katherinesmith):

okay

OpenStudy (katherinesmith):

how do i do that

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

period of sin is 2pi right ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

to find period, u need to look at x axis. pick any two same points on the wave, and find the distance between them

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

that wasnt phrased well, but u knw how to compute the period, dont u ? :)

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

1) It is impossible to tell. There is not EVER enough precision in a chart like this to know for SURE. You must MAKE and DISCLOSE any assumptions you make. 2) There could be multiple answers. \(\sin(x) = \cos(\pi/2 - x)\), right?
