If you get a decimal answer for a square root does that mean it is wrong?

OpenStudy (naveen):

it means the number you rooted is not a "perfect square" but there is no right or wrong answe to a square root.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Might want to ask math questions in math. =) Not every root is rational. \(\sqrt{2}\) never ends and is therefore an irrational number. Closest you can get is a decimal to so many places or to leave it in root form. If they say you need an exact answer, leave it as a root.
