9n-7=5n+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so where would you start on this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please refresh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you want to get N's on one side alone and the numbers on the other side alone, so move 5n to the left and tell me what you have left

OpenStudy (anonymous):

+5 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-5 always do the oppisite of what you have on the other side so the 5n is positive you need to subtract 5n from both sides and what would your formula look like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could u please do numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't really understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are trying to get all the N's to one side first so subtrat -5n from both sides and show me what you get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still don't understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add -5n to both sides -5n+9n-7=5n+5-5n

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9n-7=5n+5 first subtract 5n from both sides which equal 4n-7=5 then subtract -7 from both sides but since it is a negative it equals a positive so add -7 from both sides which equal 4n=-2 then divide 4 with -2 which equals n=-2
