n/2-2n/16=3/8

try making all the terms with a common denominator. So: (8n/16) - (2n/16) = (6/16) now that you have a common denominator, you can add (or subtract) like terms: (8n/16) - (2n/16) ====>>> 8-2 = 6 Therefore (6n/16) = 6/16 Multiply by reciprocal on both sides and reduce. You see the 16's and 6'2 cancel out: (16/6)(6n/16) = (6/16)(16/6) therefore n = 1 Make sense?
