how to factor 5x^2 +4x -1

You could use the ac method, but to tell the truth, the inspection method will work just as well on this problem\[ 5x^2 +4x -1=(5x-1)(x+1)\]Note that the only way the leading term factors is 5x times x. So one of our factors has a 5x as the first term, and the other has an x. The constant term is negative one, which factors as -1 times 1. Fit those two in so the middle term is four, and you have it.

Im a lost cause when it comes to factoring.. lol im still kinda confused but im sure i can work through it :)
Keep practicing, make sure you look for the patterns, check your work. You'll get it.
