Write an equation in slope-intercept for the line described. Slope 3, passes through (0,-2)
okay well what form is the equation going to take? what is the general form?
captainmico88 I am not going to give you the answer but I will work through it with you if you respond
What is general form i don't understand
the general equation for slope intercept form is \[y=mx+b\]
where m is the slope and b is the y intercept
So?m is 3? And x is 0 i dnt get it explaain further
well you got the first part correct....how about we do a little algebra to help you with the "+b" part okay?
so you got the equation this far \[y=3x+b\] now we can plug in the coordinates they gave us and solve for b
can you try plugging in those coordinates for me?
Sure explain
(0, -2)
plug in the x coordinate into our formula with the slope for the x variable do the same with the y coordinate for the y variable in that same equation
Y=3x+-2
well it would be better to just write y=3x-2 but you are correct
Okay then?
Is that it? Thats the answer?
yup that is a equation in slope intercept form with a slope of 3 that passes through the point (0,-2)
How bout this pne? Slope -2, passes through (-3,14)
post that as a separate question and close this one
