What is the mexican independence day?

I know they fought with spain but why

so they could get their independence

Sept 16 is the day of celebration of their independence from Spain.

the Mexicans fought with Spain over land. The spanards thought that the land that belonged to Mexico was theres because of the fact that mostly spanards lived there so Spain fought to take it back and lost to the lesser trained and smaller in numbers mexicans. And to this day they celebrate Mexican Independance day in honor of all of the people that fought and died for the independance of Mexico
