OpenStudy (anonymous):

You add 8.6g iron to 20.60mL of water and observe that the volume of iron and water together is 21.69mL . Calculate the density of iron. Express your answer to two significant figures with the appropriate units.

OpenStudy (sinbearciante):

Density = mass/volume. Mass: 8.6g; Volume (of the iron): 21.69-20.60 = 1.09mL. D = (8.6g)/(1.09mL) = 7.51 g/mL ~ 7.5 g/mL. Not sure what units you are looking for, though.
