NEED IT URGENTLY FOR THE TEST TOMORROW How to create a Calorimeter from the proper insulating materials ?

OpenStudy (rane):

@.Sam.

OpenStudy (rane):

its one of the question in the test, can u pls tell me an easy way so i can memorise it

sam (.sam.):

Most of the calorimeters uses Styrofoams, they surrounds a small metal cup with Styrofoams of about 2cm thick to keep the system as adiabatic as possible. Insulation is to minimize the temperature lost from your system to the surroundings, so yeah use Styrofoams

OpenStudy (rane):

so Styrofoam's is the only material i can use, to minimise the heat loss as much as possible ?

sam (.sam.):

There are other alternatives of course, look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_thermal_conductivities Styrofoams are favored by most people because it's economical and performed well on heat insulation

OpenStudy (rane):

Thankx :)
