Never mind, I see my own error... OK:

180-(x+40)=180-x-40=140 - x that's angle GED, right? (Make sure you see why!!)

Now we have expressions for all 3 angles of the triangle, so those must sum to 180 (because, after all, it's a triangle!)

So we have:

x + 2x + (140 - x) = 180

That's the 3 angles of the triangle.

Now you need to SOLVE THAT equation for x.
