A student sees a newspaper ad for an apartment that has 2030 square feet (ft2) of floor space. How many square meters of area are there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, so there is the same amount of area in this apartment as there would be in a square with sides of length sqrt(2030) ft, which is approx. 45.06 ft. You can convert ft to meters with 1 ft = 0.3048 m, so 45.06 ft is approx. 13.73 m. So a square with sides of length 45.06 ft is equivalent to a square with sides of length 13.73 m. So the area of this square is: 188.5 m^2.
