solve 3^2x =19

OpenStudy (anonymous):

log base 3 of 3^2x = log base 3 of 19 2x = ~2.68 x = ~1.34 if you have any number raised to another number, you can use the first number as the base for a logarithmic equation to remove that number being raised, leaving you with the number it's being raised to. ex: (log base 10 of (10^4)) = 4

most calculators only have a 'log' function though, but you can still make it work. When it only says 'log' and doesn't use a base number, it's assuming you want it to operate in base 10. if you take log (a) / log (b) it's the same as taking log base b of a ex: log (19) / log (3) = log base 3 of 19 = 2.68014...

you can test it by taking log (10^x) where x is any real number.
