A jet fighter pilot wishes to accelerate from rest at 5 g to reach Mach-3 (three times the speed of sound) as quickly as possible. Experimental tests reveal that he will black out if this acceleration lasts for more than 5.5s . Use 331m/s for the speed of sound. What is the greatest speed (in m/s) he can reach with an acceleration of 5 g before blacking out?

OpenStudy (shane_b):

If I'm understanding the question right, you can simply use:\[V_f=Vi+at=0m/s+(5*9.8m/s^2)(5.5s)=269.5m/s\]

Yes, that is right, thanks for the help!
