Just balance the equation, and follow PEMDAS 4 - t = 3 ( t - 1 ) - 5 3 ( t - 1 ) = 3*t + 3*-1 = 3t - 3 4 - t = 3t - 3 - 5 4 - t = 3t - 8 -4 to both sides -t = 3t - 12 -3t to both sides -4t = -12 *-1 to both sides 4t = 12 divide by 4 to b both sides t = 3
