in what grade level do you have to know multiplication table memorized? And how old were you when you memorized it?

well, @hartnn is correct. It's not about memorizing, but as we practice math. In a way we can memorize many things just like that multiplication table.

when an exression appears, it just becomes obvious to me which substitution to use......thats because of lots of practice!
