The Weimar Republic faced a lot of issues -- unemployment, a lagging economy, massive inflation, and a number of radical parties undermining the government's hold on power. Despite these challenges, the Weimar was slowly getting Germany back on the road to recovery. But it was a fragile recovery. The Great Depression opened another can of worms that ultimately brought the Weimar Republic into the hands of radicals such as the Nazis. It proved to be too much for the leadership and policies of the Republic to deal with. As for the second answer, I'd go with (D) all of the above. Africa was colonized, was the home to a number of ancient civilizations from Egypt to Timbuktu, and has a wide variety of climates and biomes ranging from the Sahara desert to the deep jungles of the Congo.
