Help! How can a protein cause disease, and what is an example of such protein?

thomaster (thomaster):

For example, a protein that gets misfolded won't be able to function normal anymore. Instead it will do something else which might be bad for your body. In that case the protein causes disease. Also the absence or deficiency of a protein that has an important function can lead to disease. Some diseases are alzheimer's, parkinson's, diabetes and many more.

thomaster (thomaster):

The protein that's possibly causing Alzheimer's is the amyloid precursor protein (APP)
