Find the polynomial function with roots 1, -2, and 5.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P(x)=(x-1)(x+2)(x-5)=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not sure

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Just multiply that out. Do the first 2 with FOIL, then distribute with the last binomial. But more importantly, do you understand WHY you can "cook up" the polynomial with the required roots, but taking the product of (x-1)(x+2)(x-5)?
