In this case, you just count 1995, but take away 1,2,3,4,5, and 1995. That's 6 numbers.

Okay, well, you can just use a formula. to know how many integers are between two integers, but not including those integers themselves, just subtract them, and then subtract 1. So... 1995 - 5, and then after you do that, subtract 1 more.
