The half-life of tritium, or hydrogen-3, is 12.32 years. After about 24.6 years, how much of a sample of tritium will remain unchanged? A. 1/8 B. 1/4 C. 1/3 D. 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Every 12.32 years the tritium is split in half, therefore in 24.6 years the tritium split in half twice. So I believe the answer is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank u i chose D but i now realize why it would be b :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem! the equation for half life is\[A=A _{0} \times \left(\begin{matrix}1 \\ 2\end{matrix}\right)^{ \frac{ t }{ h }}\]
