Verizon charges $10 per month and $0.10 per text. Write a linear equation to represent this scenario.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well $0.10 would be your changing value, so in y = (value)x+y which one would you need to be changing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hint: (if you ever have a value that can change depending on a factor (i.e. different amount of text messages) it will always go with x, while y will be a nonchanging factor (the right side of the equation y)

TA=0.10t+10. 0.10 is a unknown # so we represent it with a variable. In the problem we do not know how many texts we are gonna send yet. since we dont know the #, we will represent it with a variable like t.

While they charge 10$ per month, per means one, so 10*1=10 so we dont need a variable for that.

Sam don't just give them the answer, lead them to it, its in the rules.
