How do I find information on how to write dialogues properly (when writing novels)?

Do you need an answer to this certain question or do you just want to know how to do it?

aprodite1, I am working on writing a novel but I seem to get hung up on the technique of writing dialogues without having to indicate who's speaking on every sentence (i.e., He said, "..." ; She said, "...").

"Hello." she said, rather shyly. "How do you do?" "Fine thank you." Rosco said to the young maiden. "Would you mind telling me where the lady of the house is?" he questioned. "She is in the back of the house tending to the garden, shall I tell her you are here?" "By all means please do." he replied. That's how I do it. My suggestion to you is read a lot of olden style books, like C.S Lewis's or Toliken's (The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, etc...) These two people's books were concise and weren't confusing. The dialogue writing is something that takes time and effort but it's fairly simple once you've seen enough examples. The writing above is all of my own doing by the way.
