someone check my answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Factor: x2 + 20x + 100

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what answer did you get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x+10) (x+10)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct (x+10)^2 works too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really? O.o thx jim!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes really, yw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um... okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got x2+x+5 ???

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

not sure how you got that since \(\large x^2 + 20x + 100\) factors to (x+10)(x+10) this is because 10+10 = 20 10*10 = 100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i divided 20 by the 20x and by 100

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hmm I see, if you did that then you'd have to do that to the first term to balance everything out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i got 20 cause 20x is 20 * x so i dived 20 so i could get x by its self

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

oh you only need to do that if you want to solve for x, but we don't have an equation to solve in this case

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay
