I need serious help! Do you know what software do these websites use for their comments? I need it for my website! Thanks so much! http://thesocietypages.org/socimages/2013/07/22/your-star-trek-poster-is-scaring-the-ladies-why-women-dont-major-in-computer-science/ http://thoughtcatalog.com/2013/29-fabulous-random-facts/

Thanks! I stumbled upon disqus earlier today by chance. I thought it was a plugin or module. Didn't expect it to be on a separate website by itself so I didn't try signing up. Thanks a lot btw! :)
np. Yah, if you look at the source you can see the URLs use it. So by searching up what it was and answer appeared. =) Oh, and the sociology paper you linked was interesting. Parents simply forget how much they inadvertently gender stereotype their kids! Just things around the house and the change their children. It has to do with their exploratory nature.
I find it quite interesting as well. But I'm definitely an exception to the study. My room resembles the 'geeky' room but I'm rather stereotypically girly otherwise. And, I Love Star Trek, especially TOS.
Hehe. It also has to do with how things are introduced. Here is another interesting concept for you to think about: http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/freedom-learn/200808/children-educate-themselves-iv-lessons-sudbury-valley
This is excellent. I'm surprised the government hasn't shut it down yet. I'm really into these alternative schools. There's also this democratic alternative school in which children vote to make daily decisions and teachers have the same voting power.
What is funny is that for a very long time we have had business research where we have proven that people work better when they are involved more personally int heir work. When they feel respected, empowered in the decision process, and so on, they are far more happy with and effective in their work. Why do we think that kids in education would be any different? People say that kids need to be told to study... but this is after years of telling them to sit still, not explore, and so on. So why would they like studying if for years their curiosity and learning has been punished!
The thing is, it is no different for working adults. I was just reading Dale Carnegie's How to win friends and influence people. Everyone needs self-expression and a feeling of importance. But it's just hard to achieve that for everyone in this massive world right now. I believe that if you want it, you should go out and get it. It's just like that George Bernard Shaw quote: “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them.” The same goes for kids. If their parents really want something different for their kids, there are alternative schools or unschooling. Mainstream society simply can't incorporate the most valuable ideas into its system sometimes.
Derren Brown - The Experiments: The Secret of Luck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4mN33w5Ftw That has a lot to do with that quote.
Changing Education Paradigms http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDZFcDGpL4U Another good refeence... and shorter. Hehe.
Stuart Brown: Play is more than just fun http://www.ted.com/talks/stuart_brown_says_play_is_more_than_fun_it_s_vital.html How play relates to education and use of hands is linked to creativity.
So those are some other references for you to have fun with!
