The midpoint of CD is E(-1,0). One endpoint is C(5,2). What are the coordinates of the other endpoint!

OpenStudy (phi):

the way to do this, is start at the endpoint (5,2) first do the x (the first number) you are at 5, you go to the middle point at -1 how far did you move ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't even get this :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

me neither lol where dum xD

OpenStudy (phi):

if you are at 5 and go one step smaller you get to 4 if you are at 5 and go some number of steps you get to -1

OpenStudy (phi):

you are at 5, you go to the middle point at -1 how far did you move ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, now go 6 more steps from -1 , where do you end up ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5

OpenStudy (phi):

we want to go smaller. we start at 5....go 6 (smaller) to -1. now go another 6 (smaller) to ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-7

OpenStudy (phi):

if we use subtraction, we go -1 - 6 = -7

OpenStudy (phi):

so -7 is the x value of the other end point. now the y value we start at 2 and go to 0 how far did we move?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2

OpenStudy (phi):

now go another -2 form 0 to get the the other end point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(7,-2)?

OpenStudy (phi):

although it is -7 for the x right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes
