I think they would have been fine. Just not as much work would of been done.

Yes, the Virginian colonists would have survived without slaves. Really, they *decided* to use slaves as opposed to skilled labor men, because they simply decided that the labor men didnt "have the time" or "had more pressing issues".

That is somewhat wrong. Remember this is hardly the time of today. There was no technology, at least very limited. It would have been a hell harder to survive without slaves. Though it would have been possible, America would have had a lot less money at the time. America survived from what is called "cash crops" for a long time, and it needed a lot of workers to tend to work, much more then the country could offer.
