omg i need help!!! Express each ratio as a fraction in simplest form 2 yards to 45 feet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Convert those units first! Probably best to change 45 feet to yards, then do a ratio of yards.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i dnt knw im so confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And remember that a ratio of the form "A to B" as a fraction: A is the numerator and B the denominator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how many feet are in a yard?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(ugh, we should all just go metric already . . . )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? ok..... and well i just need to mulitply them and i just get my answer right

Ratios, being fractions, is more about division, but after converting the units, there really isn't any arithmetic necessary, it's more about rewriting the form of the expression. Here's another example: 8 cups to a gallon is the same as 8 cups to 16 cups (since there are 16 cups in a gallon). The ratio 8 to 16 is the same as 1 to 2, so the fraction is 1/2.
