The jellyfish subsequently develops into a mature medusa over a period of weeks to months. I'm going to go with C.

I'm going with (C), too. The medusa stage is when those tentacles begin hanging down from a mature jellyfish, IIRC. Cnidarian is what a jellyfish is because it belongs to the Cnidra phylum, and mesoglea is a clear substance that has to do with cells (I think).
